Who we are

The Schuilplaats has been around since the start of the Lunetten district in Utrecht. We started out in a wooden shed, then met for a while in the Musketon Cultural Centre, and since 2001 we have been meeting in the hall of the "Passie" Community School, behind the Lunetten Sports Hall.

Many of the church members are from the local districts of Lunetten, Hoograven or Rivierenwijk. There are also quite a lot of members who come from other parts of Utrecht or from surrounding towns such as Houten and Nieuwegein. We are open to everyone from Utrecht and the surrounding area who feels at home with us. As a church, we want to be a particular blessing for the south-east of Utrecht. But our desire is that every church member can be a blessing in the place they live or work, wherever that is.

We are a welcoming church with:

• lively Sunday services
• many opportunities for individual church members to contribute
• concern for each other, partly through small groups (also called cell groups)
• an open attitude towards people outside the church
• teaching that is faithful to the Bible
• care and concern for children
• cooperation with other churches
• an especial welcome for internationals and English speakers
